One of our competitors recently advertised a "huge sale on everything at 68%". It made me wonder, what does that really mean? What business can conduct operations with discounts of 68%? To me, that only means one of two things: a) either the office is going out of business and trying to survive so they will take sales at any price, or b) their initial or list prices were unreasonably inflated to begin with. Either way, is this a legitimate tactic to front customers with? We believe our approach of low, realistic market-set prices is a much more reasonable and fair approach to conducting business. Moreover, when we advertise a special, it truly is a special. It is seldom as drastic as 68% Off, and it is generally for a specific product or service where we have been able to leverage our high-volume relationship with a supplier or vendor to lower our cost of doing business. Our efficiency benefits our customers. Find out more about our special promotions on our website each month: http://www.pamedspa.biz/specials/january-2011.html

Vanity is defined as excessive pride in one's appearance or accomplishments (source: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/vanity). People from other countries outside of the USA view our culture as being obsessively vain. The next time you’re abroad, take a look at most adult’s teeth in the local population; and I’m not referring to travel in Central Africa or the third-world countries in Indonesia. I’m referring to western developed societies in England, Spain, Germany or Russia. We are the only country that is so incessant about having our children’s teeth straightened and whitened. We obsess about our hair styles, our clothes, our shoes, and even the cards we drive. But, we are not unique in this. Just look at at what is happening in China today. China’s fast growing economy is rapidly creating a large middle-class. Plastic surgery is experiencing stratospheric growth in China. People in China, men in particular, are going to extremes to appear taller, stronger and more affluent. Chinese men (and women to a lesser degree) are undergoing leg lengthening surgery to add a few inches to their height. Throughout history, there are many similar examples where financial wealth brings forward a pursuit of vanity for those who have the means. And so it is with our culture – we have the means and so why not? We as a people have the means and the opportunity to look our best. So is this so wrong? Is it wrong to want to be wrinkle free (http://www.pamedspa.biz/services/botox-for-wrinkles-hyperhydrosis.html), or to get rid of unwanted hair(http://www.pamedspa.biz/services/laser-hair-removal.html)?

Spa Party

This week, we had a terrific Botox Party at New Image Medspa. We had over 40 people attend. The food was terrific, the wine sublime, everyone had fun, and a little Botox. Our Fraxel demo was a hit. Everyone loved their door prizes, too! Congratulations to our two raffle winners! Our next party will be in the Spring of 2011. Stay tuned for new service announcements.

Selphyl - the "Vampire Filler"

Posted by: Joe in WrinklesSelphylBotox on

We're introducing a new approach to wrinke/scar fillers - it is called Selphyl. Selphyl is very different from the traditional fillers that use animal derrived or synthetic filler agents because Selphyl uses your own platelets and biology to create a filler that is safe, effective and natural. Approximately 4ml of your blood is extracted and prepared using a special centrifuge, and then mised with Selphyl. The resulting mixture is then used to inject under the skin to fill voids from wrinkles, scars, etc. Because your own blood is used as a source, Selphyl has been called the "Vampire Filler". We also use Selphyl as a filler in our male enhancement surgery to add girth because Selphyl, unlike syntetic approaches does not effect sensitivity. If you would like to know more about Selphyl, join us at our Open House on December 8th, 2010 or call our office to schedule a complimentary consultation at 215-953-5140.

Love my lips!

From time to time, we get feedback from clients about our work. Juvederm is an amazing treatment for wrinkles and for thin lips. ... Dear Dr Brilliant, I love my lips! I have to tell you, at first I was apprehensive to switch doctor's. I have only had my lips done once before, and I thought I was happy with the results. Now, after having my experience with you and the staff, I am elated! Besides being completely satisfied with the physical results, I truly appreciated your honesty and patience during my consultation. I am a raving fan! Oh, and I could not believe that it was virtually painless during the treatment compared to my first time at another office. Do not hesitate to provide my contact information to any of your potential clients. Please thank Marie and Julia as well, they treated me with warmth and were very supportive. You are Brilliant!!! ...

Our staff gets asked this question all the time.  With all of the fillers on the market, which one is right for me.  First, you have to know that fillers can be categorized by their main ingredient.  The most widely used fillers today are based on hyularonic acid, which is a compound that is naturally occuring in our bodies.  It is what gives our skin its elasticity.  Fillers made from this compound are Juvederm, Restylane, and others.  These fillers last anywhere from 6 months to a year.  Then, there are are other fillers made of collagen.  These are Cosmoplast, Cosmoderm, etc. These fillers typically only last a few months after being injected.

Some of the newer fillers on the market are Radiesse and Evolence.  Radiesse uses a calcium-based compound to deposit particles under the skin which then promote the generation of collagen creating a lattice-like structure under the skin.  Evolence is a new formulation of collagen which lasts up to 12 months - much more than the traditional collagen-based fillers of the past.  Then, there are other semi-permanent or permanent fillers like Sculptra.  Most people stay away from these, because these generally cannot be removed once injected and they are not absorbed.

I learned a new term this week - "astroturf marketing".  I have never heard this term before.   I learned this term when I received a phone call from the owner of another facility similar to ours, who accused our marketing department of placing detrimental comments on a public forum website about their facility.  The comments, as I found out, were not placed by anyone associated with our office.  In good faith, I did ask the forum administrator to remove the comments because I did not want in any way to be associated with any negative statements toward another facility.  I was saddened to find that the owner also reciprocated by putting negative comments about our office on this same forum.  In his commentary, this person accused our office of "astroturf marketing".  Now this term was quite an enigma to me.  What in the devil is astroturf marketing?

To Blog or Not to Blog?

Posted by: Joe in Laser Hair RemovalBotox on

Blogging is a Web 2.0 tool that let's us express what we think, to share our thoughts, and information.  Blogs are not reserved for only those who publicly rant about some cause or event.  Blogs are a medium for communicating and provoking thought.

When I came across a blog on another site from a facility similar to ours where the editor simply copied content from another site (a vendor of a skin care product), I wondered how this may reflect on the facility.  Fact is, that the doctors running an office seldom write their blogs.  The task is usually delegated to a marketing person, or worse, someone outside their organization - a free lance writer.   In this case, it would be better than handing the reins to a Blog to a someone who under normal circumtances would have trouble writing their name on their GED exam.  By copying content form another site, the author was actually hurting this facility's website with duplicate content.  Google simple dismisses or worse, penalizes such practices.

Best Compliment Ever!

One of our most frequent clients stopped me recently and asked me an interesting question? She asked me "do you know why I come here, and not to another office?" I responded that "it was because of our good service and fair prices, right?".

Cheap Botox in California?

Posted by: Joe in Botox on

I just came back from California. Beverly Hills plastic surgery practices selling Botox for as low as $10 per unit. The catch - I had to get implants to get it. Implants? Yeah, implants -- so where does a guy stick an implant -- ok - don't answer that one. I'll pay a bit more for my Botox, thank you very much.  Our price is a bit higher, at $12 per unit, but then again, we guarantee our Botox to be legitimate from Allergan Corp., delivered by FEDEX on dry ice temperature controlled, and not dilluted to weaken the potency.  Our Botox is reconstituted by published medical guidelines and provided with 4 hours of opening the vial. Fresh Botox equals great results.
